In my personal experience I’ve found that you need one website – seek.com.au. The best days for new job postings seems to be Wednesday with the start and end of the week being quieter. If you respond to a few adverts recruitments agencies tend to be the first to get back to you. I’ve sent in a CV and literally had my phone ring thirty seconds later. However the agencies tend to be the lowest quality of lead. They often invite you in to see them in their office but, unless the prospect appeals to you, I’d recommend skipping this as it’s something that can just as easily be done over the phone.

Be careful with the recruitment agents as well. They sound like your best mate on the phone but realise they are all acting on big commissions in a cut throat industry. There are two main tricks they try to pull.

Having said all that recruitment agencies in Sydney are one way to get a job. They just have a very high signal to noise ratio. They’ll promise the world, words cost nothing, and mostly fail to deliver.
Contacting Sydney Companies Directly
Seek.com.au is good because it also contains adverts directly from hiring companies. These are much higher quality but they tend to react slower. So you won’t be contacted for a week or so but when they do contact you there will be no messing about. They will have reviewed your CV and they will be offering you an interview for the job. Either over the phone or face to face.
You’ll often see the same roles advertised by agencies and the employer so definitely try and go to the employer HR directly.
